Temple Members

Howard Halpern is the founder of Buckhead Beef Company, which he grew into the largest privately held meat purveyor in the United States. In 1999, Buckhead Beef merged with Sysco Food Services, and Howard became chairman and CEO of Sysco’s East Coast meat companies and served on its Directors’ Council.

In 2005, he established Halperns’ Steak & Seafood, which soon became one of the state’s fastest-growing companies. Howard and his wife, Lynne, have dedicated their time and resources to charitable giving, focusing on Jewish causes. Thousands of campers have benefited from the MJCCA’s Lynne M. & Howard I. Halpern Drama Camp and the Lynne M. and Howard I. Halpern Aquatic Center at Camp Barney Medintz. Howard has served as a co-chair of the MJCCA BB&T Harry Maziar Classic.

Lynne and Howard are longtime supporters of The Temple, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, and the Anti-Defamation League.
