About the Exhibit

Since its founding in 1867 as the Hebrew Benevolent Congregation, The Temple has played a vital role in Atlanta’s history. Located in midtown, it is the city’s oldest and most diverse synagogue and one of the nation’s most dynamic religious institutions. For 150 years, its members have contributed economically, socially, culturally, artistically, and philanthropically to the city.

History Makers are past presidents and Temple members who have shaped the city of Atlanta in a significant manner and would be recognized by historians as significant citizens of the city, independent of their affiliation with The Temple.
